Hawaiian Koa Wood Calabash with Koa Butterflies
This is a traditional Hawaiian Koa wood calabash bowl #715. This beautiful piece stands at 5"tall and approximately 10 1/2" wide.It has a traditional non-footed shape and eight Koa butterfly patches. The interior of the bowl is peppered with elegant wood curls. The deep blonde and golden brown color exemplify the unique and rich characteristics of Koa wood. The Koa wood was sustainably harvested from the slopes of Mauna Kea, at KoaWood Ranch. Using Koa wood from the conservation, Craig painstakingly turned this wood bowl into the traditional Hawaiian calabash shape. The piece is finished with Danish oil and polished with beeswax.
