Hawaiian Koa Wood Turned Calabash
This is a traditional Hawaiian Koa wood calabash bowl #721. This piece stands at 2 1/4" high and approximately 7 3/4" wide.It has a traditional non-footed shape. Thisdeep blonde and golden brown Koa bowl reflectsthe unique and rich characteristics of Koa wood. There is a nice spread of curls on the bowl and an exposed soft batch on the bowl as well. The Koa wood was harvested on the slopes of Mauna Kea, at KoaWood Ranch. Using Koa wood from the conservation, Craig painstakingly turned this wood bowl in the traditional Hawaiian calabash shape. The piece is finished with Danish oil and beeswax.
